Mari Cortez
The main goal of designing Maria cortez was to exercise and play with one of my favorite genre which is western but I wanted a more feminine version of a western legend, a badass cowgirl to be precise , This work took something about 6 to 12 hours to wrap up since I went with a fully separated layer solution to accomplish a variable and diverse look to her, I the process of designing her I decided to create a comic like storyboard which later decided to transcribe using AI text to speech.
Her story and character is shaped around some of my favorite western personalities like Steve MacQueen and clint Eastwood, and at the same time I gave her multiple looks with some pointing toward a antagonist attitude with eye patch and more. the other matter that I looked upon on this piece was her revolver which took a bit of study for me to finally achieve a fair output as the concept.
#1 - First ever challenge was the idea of western style custom of male figures on a female character and how I could tweak it a bit to achieve my desired look.
#2 - Creating a storyboard and then transcribing it to express the lore of this character was yet another new challenge that I accepted by signing up for this project.
#3 - Keeping the color pallet and the color harmony of the work in consistent check was yet another personal challenge of mine.
